Final Week!

Rob Peason is holding onto 1st place but there are four members all within a couple of points chirping to steal it away.  Rob has the second longest dry spell with regards to winning the Club Championship (23 Years to Peter Haupt’s 25) so maybe this is Rob’s year to bust his cherry and get his name on the trophy, or maybe not!  Good Luck to all the contenders!

Rob joins John Mihlik in the final 18 hole match to determine the 2010 Match Play Champion.  Their match is scheduled for Thursday at Spring Lake Golf Course.  Thanks to Pete Kenny for sponsoring them, and Good Luck to both competitors!

Sam shot the low round for the week 43 Net 31 which is the new Low Net Round from the Blue Tees.  Sam clipped $45 from Mitch with that score and there is one week left to pick Sam’s pocket and claim the $45 for ourselves.  Good Luck to all of us!

The Bonus Pools have been shuffling back and forth and are still up for grabs, so check it out.

Best regards to you all.

Primary versus Secondary League Day:

Having a dual “League Day” system this year allows a member who prefers to play on Mondays do so without accumulating a “miss” in the Individual Match Play Tournament.  If your opponent plays on a Monday and you play on a Wednesday, neither member is given a miss for that week and you are encouraged to work out a schedule with each other to complete your round as soon as practical.  Please remember that rounds need not be played at Hyatt Hills in order to count for Match Play.  If neither member plays on either day, they are both given a miss, with two misses resulting in a forfeit.  If both members accumulate their second miss in the same week, then a BYE advances and both competitors lose their match.

The concern about different playing conditions still remains, so the Skins Games will continue to only be contested on the Primary League Day (Wednesdays).

The “League Week” is Monday to Friday, unless there is a rainout on Wednesday.

Only in the case of a Wednesday rainout, the “League Week” will be extended through to the following Monday.  This allows a make-up round to be played over the weekend and on that Monday.   A round posted on that Monday cannot count for both weeks, but someone who had a successful round the week before can play on that Monday for their now current week’s round.

You must notify Pat when you have scheduled your replacement tee time with the course so that the round for that week will be counted.  Without this necessary communication the books will be closed when the last known rescheduled round is posted.

Please note that your handicap is not updated until everyone has posted their scores for the week.  This is more important when you are involved in Match Play.  If you are playing a Match and the handicaps have not been updated because of a rainout, or whatever, use the prior week’s handicap for each competitor.

Gimmee Rule

“Gimmees” are only allowed when the ball is “within the leather”.  “Within the leather” is defined as placing your putter head in the hole and laying the putter on the green, if the ball is on the shaft before the grip, it is “within the leather”.

Belly putters or other abnormally long putters are not to be used to measure a “gimmee”.

“Gimmees” are to be announced loudly enough for all of the members on your green to hear it, or by picking the ball up and giving it to your opponent.  These are meant to speed play and not to grant an advantage to any member.  Please remember that you are competing with members in other foursomes and be fair with these free passes as we need to be consistent.  If in doubt, please measure.  If you hit the ball toward the hole it is a stroke, if you miss, it is at least two strokes.

When walking off the green, the phrase “oh, that was good” is unacceptable, either give/take the putt or don’t.

In Match Play, the automatic “gimmee” rule is not in force for the Match Only.  The putt may be good for our Medal Play, but it is your opponent who is the only one to grant a “gimmee” in Match Play.  In any Match, if the opponent does not give you a putt that is “within the leather”, you may have two scores for a hole, one for the Season and Phase Competitions, and the other for the Match.  Please mark your cards accordingly so proper credit can be given.
